Continuous Medicaid? When’s it Ending?
Phasing out begins
April 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023
Summary
The continuous enrollment condition for individuals receiving Medicaid is no longer linked to the end of the PHE. Since the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, States have been able to claim a temporary percentage increase in the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) and in return could not terminate enrollment for most persons enrolled in Medicaid.
The CAA 2023 ended the requirement to maintain enrollment effective March 31, 2023. The FMAP will be reduced over time and phased out beginning April 1, 2023, ending December 31, 2023. Learn more at Medicaid.gov.
