The Benefit Working Parents Need

73% of employees have family depending on them for care. 79% of caregivers report financial, social, mental or professional setbacks related to their care responsibilities which cause 16% of them to leave their jobs altogether. “There’s a very substantial cost of replacing a worker. Even for low-wage workers, the cost is between 25 percent and 35 percent of annual compensation.”

Our population is aging with more people turning 65 than newborns, for the first time in history. So you’ll see more and more employees needing to help both kids and elderly parents and in-laws, because 70% of older adults will need long-term care. Many families expect their adult children to act as their primary caregiver, and employees face the choice of cutting back hours or leaving job entirely.
